A career built around people

From ranch life to the courtroom.

Mitch grew up at the Saddle and Surrey Guest Ranch in Tucson, watching his parents welcome people from every walk of life. The lesson stayed with him: listen closely, stay curious, and make people feel heard.

He earned a business degree from the University of Arizona, worked in hospitality, then put himself through law school. In 1986, he opened a California practice focused on helping injured consumers and their families.

His peers have recognized his work throughout his career. In 2009, the Orange County Trial Lawyers Association named him Orange County Trial Lawyer of the Year. He received the 2013 California Litigation Lawyer of the Year (CLAY) Award and holds an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell.

Four decades later, Mitch continues to bring law, business, communication, and technology together in his work as a lawyer, mediator, author, and speaker.

Why share these lessons?

Negotiation is not reserved for lawyers, diplomats, or corporate executives. People negotiate every day—often without realizing it. Mitch created this guide to help everyday business owners and everyday people prepare better, avoid costly mistakes, and reach agreements with confidence and integrity.

His goal is not to teach pressure tactics. It is to help readers understand interests, create value, protect relationships, recognize a strong alternative, and know when a deal is genuinely worth making.
